"Ok, let's go Puka," said the girl with long brown braids, hanging low down her shoulders. This was Missa Kaju, a new beginning Pok?mon trainer. She had just left her home and was heading down the road to Professor Ivy's lab to get her starter Pok?mon. Puka, a special Pikachu, she's had for awhile now was following her.
Puka loved to sure. It was his favorite hobby. Surfing was also Missa's favorite thing as well. Both her and Puka both had there own surf boards in Missa's bag. They were portable boards so that they could be taken anywhere. Puka hopped up on Missa's shoulder as she checked her watch. "Right on time," she said as she walked up to Professor Ivy's lab and knocked on the door.

Professor Ivy heard a knock at the door. She stood up from her comfy black swivel chair and strolled towards the door. A blue mouse Pok?mon followed her. It was a Shinx. Professor Ivy opened the door, to see a young girl with light brown braids. A Pikachu with a surfboard looked up at her.
"Welcome! I'm quessing you're one of the young trainers, here to collect your starter Pok?mon! If you are, what's your name? Mine's Professor Ivy!" the middle-aged lady siad.

"Hi, nice to meet you, Professor. My name is Missa Kaju. And this is Puka, my Pikachu," she said.
"Pika," Puka grinned, waving.
"Yes, I'd like a Pok?mon please. We shouldn't take up too much of your time. May we come in please?" Missa asked. She noticed the Shinx at Professor Ivy's feet and grinned at it.

"Of course you may come in, Missa. Your Pikachu has a cute name. However, watch the floor, as the starters don't like being inside Pokeballs," Professor Ivy grinned, walking back to her swivel chair near her desk. On the way there, she nearly tripped over a Gible. Luckily, she didn't trip, and she managed to laugh about it. Then the Shinx by Professor Ivy's feet began to play with the Gible. There were lots of other Pok?mon too, too many for Professor Ivy to count at once.
"So, Missa. Which one do you want as your starter?" Professor Ivy asked.

Missa was looking over a Riolu. She grabbed her Pokedex and looked up, Riolu in the Pokedex. It evolved into a very strong Pok?mon, called a Lucario. And according to the Pokedex after it evolved it could speak human,"Wow! What a cool Pok?mon. Can I have Riolu?" She asked, looking over the Riolu. She grinned at him. Puka was playing with the Shinx, right now.

"If you want Riolu as your starter Pok?mon, then you can take it!" Professor Ivy replied. The Shinx at her feet stopped playing with Puka to glance over at Riolu. It felt jealous, since it wanted to go with Missa. The Gible comforted it, though.
"Now, begin your Pok?mon adventure. Many suprises await you!" Professor Ivy continued, grinning at Missa.

"Hey, how would you like a nickname, Riolu? How about, Lux? A friend of mine once had a Riolu that evolved into a Lucario, and he called his Riolu that. And it was a male too, just like you," Missa said.
Riolu thought over the nickname and nodded,"Rio!" He grinned. Missa nodded and put Lux into his Pokeball.
Just then she noticed, Shinx looked disappointed,"I'm sorry little guy. I'd love to take you too, if I could but I'm only allowed one Pok?mon," Missa said, patting the Shinx on the head. She scratched him behind the ears, as she looked up at the Professor with hopeful eyes.
It seemed Shinx really liked her and wanted to go with her. But would the Professor really allow her two Pok?mon? It seemed Missa really cared about Pok?mon a lot. And she felt sorry for the Shinx.

"Lux? That's a cool nickname for a Riolu, Missa," Professor Ivy grinned. Then, the Shinx looked up at Missa. It clearly wanted to go with Missa.
"This Shinx wants to go with you, Missa. But the offical Pok?mon league rules say that trainers are only allowed one starter Pok?mon. I don't know what to do," Professor Ivy continued. The Shinx looked up at her with puppy-dog eyes.
"I'll let you have the Shinx, since it wants to go with you so much," Professor Ivy said, after a long think. The Shinx ran over to Missa and ran around her excitedly.

Missa picked up the Shinx and hugged him. She was careful not to set off an electric charge though. She seemed to know how to handle an electric type Pok?mon very well,"Hmm, what shell I call you? How about Sparky?" She asked him. It seemed like a good name for an electric type, after all.
Shinx grinned. He really liked the name. Missa decided to keep him out of his Pokeball for awhile, since he was so excited to be with her. So, she pocketed Sparky's Pokeball.
Missa sit Sparky back on the floor where him and Puka started up a game of play fight. Missa smiled. It was nice to see two electic types getting along so well. Just then her stomach growled. Missa blushed as she held her stomach,"I was in such a hurry, I left my house without eating breakfast," she giggled.

"Sparky? Another cute name for another cute Pok?mon!" Professor Ivy smiled. Then, Missa's tummy rumbled.
"I left my house without eating breakfast," she giggled.
"Then go home and eat your breakfast, then set out on your journey!" Professor Ivy giggled, while Puka and Sparky played together.

"Thank you Professor," said Missa. She picked up Sparky and Puka got on her shoulder and she went to her house and unlocked the door with her key. She got some breakfast for her and her Pok?mon. She let Lux out of his Pokeball and fed him as well. After her and her Pok?mon finished, they headed out to Route 201.
