appearance_____________
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 103 lbs
Eyes: Light brown
Hair: Light/sandy brownAdena is about average in height, standing at about 5'5". Her weight is not really in proportion to this; she is underweight, although it is probably mostly due to the fact that she has a slim build as well as being quite skinny. She has a minimum amount of body fat, mostly having muscle attached to her bones. This makes her very athletic and fast. She is light on her feet and able to jump high, darting out the way of any oncoming attackers quickly. She is an agile person, able to move swiftly without bumping into anything. She can judge her movements well, making her able to move about fast. Her build is dainty, making her seem fragile at times, yet she still manages to be strong and graceful when in action.
The hair which frames Adena's oval face is somewhere between blonde and brown in colour. More towards the brown than the blonde, it might be described as a sort of sandy brown colour. It hangs down to just below her shoulders, with a gentle natural wave to it. It shines in sunlight, and Adena keeps it clean and neat, since she likes her hair. Her face is pretty average, with evenly proportioned features and a few faint freckles about her nose. Her lips usually have a smile on them, since she is a happy person who gives a happy impression. Her eyes lie below thin, arched eyebrows. These eyes are deep and a golden brown colour. They're the sort of eyes you can really lose yourself in. The way the light from the sun or lamp hits them might even make the colours of her eyes flicker like a little like fire. It's mostly these eyes which make her face stand out despite not being any prettier or uglier than everyone else.
Adena's body is, like her face, pretty average for a girl her age. While not completely developed yet, she does have curves. She is caucasian, her skin fairly pale, but not too white or anything. Her stomach is flat due to her regular exercise and the absence of junk food in her diet, and the one thing Adena doesn't really like about her appearance is that her hands are a little large. She has long fingers which help her with her violin playing especially, but she still doesn't really like that her hands look slightly too big. It's hard to notice unless you look hard. Her fingers, though, as well as her toes (though not as much), are definitely long.
Now, onto her clothes. Adena likes to look stylish, but she does like comfort too. She generally wears old jeans or leggings, something which allows a lot of movement and isn't a skirt or dress. She avoids dresses and skirts as much as possible. Her shoes are simple too, trainers. She has a couple of pairs, and she's had both for a while and finds them comfortable as well as decent supports for her feet. Her T-shirts are usually of a simple design, either plain or maybe striped, perhaps with a few words or a picture on them. Nothing too complex. She generally wears baggy ones to allow more movement and comfort, and manages to pull the look on with a little careful choice. She has a hooded jacket in case it gets cold, as well as a coat and a few warm jumpers.
Lastly, we cover her voice. It's not something you see, but it's part of what makes her herself. Adena's voice is the sort you can pick out from a crowd, something which didn't please her at school. It is not exactly loud, but louder than average. Her voice is a definite female one, gentle, soft and soothing at times while full of energy at others. Her accent is from southern England, but in no way makes her seem any more posh or rich than she is because the tone and way she speaks.do you know that there's still a chance for you,
cause there's a spark in you?
personality______________
Strengths: Kind-hearted, intelligent, musical
Weaknesses: OCD, ADHD, feels lonely
Ambitions: To make people feel better with her music.
Likes: Pokémon, playing the violin, composing music, company
Dislikes: Her mental problems, bullies, seeing anyone in trouble
Fears: Being aloneThe first thing most people notice about Adena is that she has problems with her mental health. It's somewhere in between OCD (obsessive compulsive dissorder) and ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity dissorder). She can never sit still and is constantly figiting. She occasionally panics and convinces herself someone's after her, but that doesn't happen very often. She normally is just very energetic and feels strong needs to do little things like tap a fence or count the leaves on a branch. She knows it's silly, but gets quite nervy if she doesn't do that. Adena hates this aspect of herself, and hopes to some day manage to get over it. She is aware that it was caused by trauma in her past, so thinks that by forgetting her past she can be normal again.
Mental problems aside, Adena is a nice girl, more intelligent than average but not a nerd or anything. She tries her best to be pleasant to people, smiling at people she recognises if she meets them in the street and loves making new friends. She can be sociable to people, but often they are put off by the way she can act quite strangely sometimes. The down side of this is that it is hard for her to find people who are willing to make friends with her, despite how easily she can win people over. The up side is that she knows that everyone who like her for her and ignores her dissorders are true friends and can be trusted.
She is reasonably intelligent, too. Although she was only ever average at school work, outside of school she finds herself able to cope well. Her kind of mind is an imaginative, creative one; not so much a remembering languages, facts and dates one. She can write poems, stories, think up the most amazing things in her head, and work out how her Pokémon should dodge the latest attack. She's not so good at camping. Pitching a tent takes a while for her, and with an attention span the size of a walnut she quickly gets frustrated. Cooking is another thing which makes her angry, but if it goes well she gets quite proud of whatever she's made.
Most people who lack something make up for it with something else. Adena makes up for her mental problems with creativity- especially with music. Able to think up the most beautiful melodies, this is the best way she has of expressing herself. She takes her violin everywhere- it was quite expensive but makes a wonderful sound. She can improvise, write music and read music to a very high standard, producing sounds which could make the soul shiver by drawing her bow across the strings. Her friends envy this talent, and since her mental health makes it hard for her to explain her feelings sometimes, this is the best way for her to express herself; the music hits a person's very soul and makes them empathise with her. Another talent of hers is to be able to understand Pokémon speech- something she finds quite useful.
Deep down, although she won't admit it, Adena is lonely. Very lonely. All she really wants is someone by her side. She knows that a lot of the time when life gets her down, what she needs most of all is a hug and some comforting words. That's one of the reasons why she decided to become a Pokémon trainer- for companionship. She knows that truly, she needs another human to be completely fullfilled, but until that person comes along she will make do with her Pokémon.you just gotta ignite the light and let it shine,
just own the night like the 4th of july.
history_________________
Mother: Natasha Kaju (Age 46, Dewford Town)
Father: Alex Kaju (Age 48, Dewford Town)
Sister: Missa Kaju (Age 15, traveling Orange Islands)
Hometown: Valencia Island, Orange IslandsThroughout Adena's early life, she was always the one who was just there when you needed them to be and wasn't worth noticing at other times. She hated this. Her older sister, Missa, was often picked on by bullies as a child. Despite being a year younger, Adena did her best to stand up for her sister rather than let her get beaten up. There were mixed reactions from her fellow students. The bullies, at first, laughed at her and tossed her aside easily, while many of her classmates thought she was brave, stupid or ignoring them to stay with her older sister. She wished she could play with her friends at breaktimes, but she knew there was bound to be a bully about and so would reluctantly try and protect her sister. She did love her sister, but sometimes she really hated Missa and wished the girl would stop letting the bullies push her around and do what Adena was doing.
After the Pikachu incident when Missa was twelve and Adena was eleven, to Adena's relief Missa began standing up for herself at long last. She believed her sister when no-one else would, and as Missa being standing up for herself Adena was able to spend as much time as she wanted with her friends (mostly those who admired her for standing up to bullies that were a year older than her) without worrying about her sister.
Adena began to play the violin at the age of eight, and found she had a natural talent. She loved playing, and could understand musical terms and read music like second nature. Playing the violin was just a hobby, however, until an event when she was twelve.
Adena was walking home from a violin lesson. The sun was still high in the sky and she was by herself. She walked this route every week, and so had no worries about anything. As she walked along another empty, familiar street, a hand shot out of a doorway behind her and dragged her inside. Before she could see who it was, her eyes were covered and a gag was tied tightly around her mouth before she could scream. Ropes cut into her skin as she was bound further, before being flung into what seemed to be a dark metal box. She waited there, shaking with fear, until the box began shaking and she heard muffled voices outside yelling instructions to one another. After a while she was no longer being carried, but was on a surface that appeared to be bobbing gently up and down. Like... like a boat. Where were they taking her? She could smell sea air as the engine started and the boat left the shore, no-one on board aside from her kidnappers aware that in one metal crate a young girl was hunched over, crying huddled next to her violin case. No-one would hear her because her sobs were silenced by the gag and the walls of the crate.
When she emerged hours later, Adena found herself in a dim cellar. There she had the bare essentials of life, and luckily her kidnappers hadn't bothered taking away her violin, since it wasn't a very expensive one and there wasn't much they could do with it. This experience was all traumatising, obviously, and Adena began developing her mental problems. Over the next few years, she would be beaten into working as a slave for a cruel man in the Johto region. The only thing that would give her some relief was to play the violin in her spare time, creating her own songs through which she could properly let out her feelings and give other a taste of how she was feeling. These spine-chilling, heart-wrenching melodies would wash through the house, provided she had her violin as it would be taken away if a guest was round for fear of them finding her. She was allowed to keep her violin because her master liked to be entertained by it, forcing her to play cheerful tunes when he wanted her to.
Shortly after turning fourteen, she was desperate for escape and while still clinging onto whatever threads of hope she had, she knew that she needed to take a risk. She didn't have much to lose, anyway. And so, while hoovering her master's living room, she left the hoover on and ran. She knew the front door was locked, and her master always kept the key on him himself. The windows were all too small to escape through, except for a few on the top story which no doubt her master thought she wouldn't attempt to jump out of. She knew that two of the three led out to the back garden, and while it would be a good idea to climb over the fence into a neighbor's garden she had tried that before and it was loud and pretty much impossible. Silent on feet that had practice of moving quietly to avoid her master, she grabbed her violin and opened the one window she had a chance of escaping through. It would b a bit of a squeeze, but she should manage it.
She didn't have long before her master would realize that she wasn't moving the hoover about and investigate. She couldn't hesitate. She'd been suffering, and whether or not this killed or seriously injured her she would have to try. A tear trickled down her cheek as she thought of her family she had left all those years ago, heard her master's confused and angry yell and jumped.
Naturally, she felt a searing pain run up her leg and the force jarred her immensly, her knee slamming into her jaw. She had to run, though, since she knew her master was ready to open that door and catch her. Adrenaline coursed through her veins as she raced faster than she ever had before, gritting her teeth against the pain in her right ankle as she went. By the time she reached the end of the short street she could hear her master closing the door behind him and bleeping his car unlocked. He had a car. She had an injured ankle. Her chances were slim.
Turning around the corner, she knew she had very little time before he had started the car and was driving out looking for her. She dashed down the side of a house, not caring about the tears of fear falling freely down her face. She ran into the person's back garden, knowing her master wouldn't be able to see her while in his car. she still needed to move, though. She clambered painfully on top of the fence, then rather than jumping down on the other side she crawled along to avoid the difficulty of having to climb again, plus this way she could move in a straight line over every fence. She had no idea what her master would predict she would do, but it was quite likely he would assume she had gone into someone's house or done what she was doing now. Plus wasn't this straight line predictable? She was afraid to move out of the cover of the back gardens, though. However, as the roads turned, so did the houses, and she managed to weave her way around a bit until she reached a point where she would have to cross a road. She checked her path a lot, then leapt down, raced across in the blink of an eye and was back behind the houses. She moved along, then out of the houses behind and crossed another road, distancing herself further. After an hour like this she reached what she guessed must be the centre of the town.
She climbed down from the fence she was on and, before checking that there was no sign of her master, knocked on the back door of the house. The people living there were no doubt surprised at the sight of a tear-stained teenage girl holding a violin case, covered in scars and bruises from where she had been beaten, as well as dirt from her escape and the conditions she was living in. She didn't stop to explain, she just told them to take her to the police station straight away; that was the only place she would feel safe and could tell them her story. They took her there without question, where she told the police everything she knew and they started a search for her former master. That done, she was taken to hospital where the examined the damage done to her. Her ankle had been broken by the jump and not helped by the running, but they could tell that she had been beaten quite seriously in the past.
It took several months, but the kidnapper was put in prison for life, Adena made a good recovery and she set out for the Orange Islands. She had no idea if her family still lived there, but her sister had often talked of how she dreamed of being a Pokémon trainer and getting her starter from the lab on Valencia Island, so that was where she would go. Hoping to find Missa, her sister, again, Adena made her way there.
